Joe's love of Simmental cattle started back in the 70's when his family bought a 400 acre farm and their neighbor had a herd of traditional red and white Simmentals.  He decided to buy a couple of his own, and enjoyed working with them until he went off to college and had to sell them.

Fast forward to 2001, when we moved to the country. Our son Cramer's 6th birthday was coming up and Joe decided he should have a calf.  We got our first 2 heifers for his birthday, thus the name "Happy 6 Simmentals". We all developed a love for cows, and showing them became our family hobby.

We have a small herd of about 15, and they are either a donor or a recipient.  We strive to produce quality animals and look forward to the birth of every calf.

CRAMER
Cramer is a very special showman.  He was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma (cancer of the eye) when he was 6 months old.  He went through 6 months of chemotherapy, 9 weeks of external beam radiation, more than 30 surgeries, and even experimental techniques to fight the cancer.  However, after 2 ½ years, the cancer just would not go away and his eyes had to be removed.  Cramer has been totally blind since he was 3 years old, but there's not much he can't do.  He is a straight A student, plays piano, rides a bike, has taken horseback riding lessons, and been on a swim team. He enjoys practicing his golf swing,  woodworking, and of course showing cattle.  He takes part in breaking the calves, feeding, and helping out anyway he can. Cramer is one of the reasons we stress disposition in cattle.  He enjoys being around them, so they have to be gentle and calm.

Jesus said in John 8:12, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."  This is the verse God gave me the night before Cramer had his last surgery, and it is so true.  Cramer is filled with light and it is my prayer that others will see that and be inspired.

ALLY JO
Ally Jo was only 4 when we got our start in the cattle business, and she loves her cows.  She loves to be on the road to a show.  (She wishes she could just be a full-time showman.)  She has made lots of friends showing cattle, and enjoys keeping in touch with them.  Showmanship is one of Ally Jo's favorite things. She enjoys teaching the calves how to "set up".  She also loves softball, so sometimes it's hard to decide what to do go to the game or to the show?!  She is also a straight A student.

We are blessed to have such wonderful kids!
